Paint the Desert: A Christian Contemporary Novel (Golden State Trilogy Book 2)

Paint the Desert: A Christian Contemporary Novel by Dawn V. Cahill

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the first page, I was hooked. A story ripped from the nightly news – a mother’s worst fear. The story is told from a mother’s heart as she balances her commitment to her new husband and her child. The subplot of the sister, dealing with her own issues, fearing her secret will come out as she ventures into the deep waters of the heart.
The author wove a suspenseful story free of cliches and maintains the suspense to the last page. Asking the all important question of why keeps the reader engaged.
The story will tug at your heart, grip your soul, and do so with realism. There’s no miraculous, warm and fuzzy ending, but rather wraps up in a realistic way that has you admiring the courage of a mother’s heart.
The writing is crisp and fresh in this fast paced story of faith, hope, and love.
Add it to your summer reading list and plan to dive in over a long weekend. You’ll be glad you did.
